About Hamiza Development Foundation
Established in 2020, Hamiza Development Foundation (HDF) emerged as a beacon of hope during the global pandemic, dedicated to uplifting Uganda's most vulnerable populations.
We believe poverty is not permanent. When women, men, youth, and vulnerable households have skills, resources, and savings, they become the architects of their own future. We don't just "do projects" — we build people and systems.
Our Mission: To empower vulnerable groups and strengthen their resilience by addressing inequality and injustices, enabling them to lead dignified lives and contribute meaningfully to Uganda’s sustainable development.
Our Vision: To build an equal, just, and prosperous Uganda where all people—especially women and girls, boys and men, youth, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), refugees, host communities, and smallholder farmers—enjoy their rights, access equal opportunities, and share in the benefits of sustainable growth and development.

How We Got Here
From a response to crisis, to a movement for lasting change — this is our story.
Foundation Birth
Born during the COVID-19 pandemic to address the economic and social crisis affecting Uganda's most vulnerable groups — women, youth, refugees, and farmers.
"Hamiza" Identity
We chose the name Hamiza — meaning firm, persistent, and grounded — as a symbol of our commitment to consistency, truth, and unwavering hope for communities we serve.
Targeting Inequality
We defined our focus on women, persons with disabilities, refugees, and smallholder farmers — groups most marginalised and least served by existing development efforts.
Building Programmes
We launched six strategic pillars covering education, economic empowerment, climate-smart agriculture, health, gender equality, and protection — building a comprehensive community development model.
Growing Impact
Today, Hamiza partners with communities, local governments, and international organisations to scale proven interventions and deepen our reach across Uganda.

We deliberately involve women, youth, PWDs, refugees, and smallholder farmers in decision making processes, recognising their voices as central to shaping interventions.

We equip vulnerable groups with knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead their own development journeys, reducing dependency and strengthening resilience.

We act with empathy and care, responding to the lived realities of communities and ensuring that interventions are human centered and respectful of dignity.
